Effects of Situational Context on Verbal Communication
Abstract
Verbal communication is an important channel for idea exchange and information conveyance, however, language alone, as a main tool for communication, can not achieve the conveyance of information properly, which makes it necessary to determine the meaning according to its situational context. The same version can have different interpretations in different situational contexts. Situational context and language meaning are so closely associated that the understanding of language depends on situational context, while situational context constrains the selection and the use of language. This essay focuses on the effects of situational context on verbal communication. It analyzes deeply that language alone can not achieve the purpose of communication, but must depend on situational context from the angle of numerous characters of language. Furthermore, this essay indicates that situational context influences verbal communication in two ways. One is that situational context helps to understand the language, the other one is that situational context constraints verbal communication .

摘 要
言语交际是人们沟通思想，传递信息的重要方式。而语言做为言语交际的工具，仅靠语言本身不能准确地进行言语交际，必须依赖情景语境。同1语言表达在不同的情景语境中运用会产生不同的解释。对言语的理解依赖于情景语境；情景语境制约了言语的选择和运用,两者密不可分。本文重点探讨了情景语境对言语交际的影响。本文从自然语言本身的多种特性入手，深入分析了仅靠语言本身不足以准确进行言语交际，必须依赖情景语境。本文进而揭示了情景语境从两方面影响言语交际，1方面情景语境有利于语言的理解，另1方面，情景语境制约了语言的选择和运用。
