A public relations resume must present information quickly, clearly, and in a way that makes the experience relevant to the position in consideration. That means condensing the information to its most powerful form.

- Avoid using 'I' throughout your resume.

Objective : Short and specific statement that includes position and relevant skills in the field of public relations.
Summary : Include a short summary for your resume. For example:
Worked as a Public Information Specialist for five years and expanded public participation in the NPs cherry blossom interpretive program by 20% through the implementation of a public relations campaign.

Education : List your highest degree first.
- Name of institution, city and state
- Degree, major and year awarded
- GPA (optional)
Skills : Mention all your job related skills to make your resume outstanding. Use action-words, verbs, adverbs, adjectives in your descriptions and terms that are specific to your job. You can also add your computer and language skills.
Experience : List the most recent experience first. Emphasize on your achievements and contributions.
For Example : 'Expanded public participation in the NPs cherry blossom interpretive program by 20% through the implementation of a public relations campaign'.
Activities : Campus and community activities, memberships in professional organizations etc.
Personal : Certifications, security clearances, patents, special awards, citizenship etc.
Summary of Resume Preparation :
- Short and to the point.
- Include a clear 'Job Objective'.
- Use action verbs to describe job duties.
- Do not include references or say 'References available upon request'.
- Do not include personal information such as height, weight, marital status, sex or health.
