2016年国际和平日主题「克胜冷漠，赢得和平」
叙利亚内战、美国纽约恐袭、伊拉克爆炸……我们距离真正的和平到底有多远?9月21日，是联合国设立的国际和平日，今年是第35个。全球目前仍有30多个国家和地区陷入战争，无辜平民成为最大受害者。
2016年国际和平日纪念活动将于20日至22日在银川举行。纪念活动由中国人民争取和平与裁军协会、联合国驻华系统及宁夏自治区人民政府联合举办，主题为“人民期盼可持续和平与发展”。届时，来自33个国家政要、前政要、非政府组织和智库的70余名代表及部分中方专家学者与会。
联合国将每年9月21日设立为“国际和平日”，以广泛传播和平理念，号召全世界维护和平、反对战争。作为中国最大的民间和平团体，中国人民争取和平与裁军协会已连续多年举办各类纪念活动。

Every year on the International Day of Peace, the United Nations calls on warring parties to lay down their arms and observe a 24-hour global ceasefire. The symbolism of a day without fighting is a crucial reminder that conflict can and must come to an end.
每年在国际和平日这一天，联合国呼吁交战各方放下武器，遵守24小时全球停火。一天无战事的象征意义在于向人们发出重要提示：冲突能够而且必须终止。
But peace is about much more than putting weapons aside. It is about building a global society in which people live free from poverty and share the benefits of prosperity. It is about growing together and supporting each other as a universal family.
但和平不只关乎放下武器，而是要建立一个人人免受贫穷并分享繁荣成果的全球社会。和平是要世界大家庭一起成长，相互支持。
The theme of this year’s Peace Day highlights the 17 Sustainable Development Goals– theSDGs– as Building Blocks for Peace. Conflict often starts when people compete over limited resources. The2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is our blueprint to prevent such conflicts from arising by making sure no one is left behind.
今年和平日的主题突出强调17项可持续发展目标作为构建和平的重要基石。冲突常常源于人们争夺有限资源。《2030年可持续发展议程》为我们确保不让任何一个人掉队，从而防止发生此类冲突描绘了蓝图。
When the 193 Member States of the United Nations unanimously adopted the 17 Sustainable Development Goalslast September, their message was clear.
去年9月，联合国193个会员国一致通过了17项可持续发展目标，以此传递了明确的信息。
Sustainable development is essential for lasting peace, and both depend on respect for human rights. We need to protect our planet. And only by working together can we make our common home safe for future generations.
可持续发展对实现持久和平至关重要，两者均依赖于对人权的尊重。我们需要保护我们的地球。只有通过合作，才能为我们的子孙后代留下一个安全的共同家园。
All of us can be sustainable development advocates and spread the word about the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs. And we can all hold our governments to account for keeping their pledge to the future.
我们每一个人都可以成为可持续发展的倡导者，宣传《2030年议程》和可持续发展目标。我们都可以要求我们的政府信守对未来的承诺。
Let us all work together to help all human beings achieve dignity and equality; to build a greener planet; and to make sure no one is left behind.
让我们共同努力，帮助全人类实现尊严和平等;构建更加绿色的地球;确保不让任何一个人掉队。
