投资银行: Applications Can I send my CV/resume by email?

We only accept applications made online via this website to ensure a fair and consistent application process.

I have made an error on my application, what shall I do?

You can update the personal details section of your application, but you can’t make any other amendments to your application once submitted. To update your personal details, please log into your application where you can edit your details yourself.

Can I get feedback on my application?

Because of the large volume of applications we receive, we do not provide feedback at the testing, CV screen or telephone interview stages of the application process. We will provide detailed feedback to candidates who attend our final assessment events.

What should I do if I have a disability that may affect my performance at any stage of the recruitment process?

Barclays is committed to Equal Opportunity Employment. We will make reasonable adjustments to the selection process where necessary. If you think you have a disability that may impact your performance anywhere in the selection process, please contact us to discuss your personal circumstances.

Do you offer deferred entry for your programmes?

In exceptional circumstances, we may allow you to defer your start date. Please speak to your recruiter for further details.

Area/Locations I require a work permit for the region I would like to work in – can I still apply?

We encourage you to apply to one region; however, some roles recruit on a global basis.

If applying for internships, we recommend that you apply to the region to which you would want to be recruited for a full-time role.

All applicants will be considered; however, you should be aware that the granting of work permits is beyond the control of Barclays and subject to local immigration laws

Can I apply to more than one area within the Barclays Group?

You must decide between Barclays and Barclays Wealth. You may not apply to both, although you can apply to Barclays in addition to either Barclays or Barclays Wealth.

Positions Do you offer work experience opportunities?

We run a structured internship programme for university students. Outside this programme, we offer a number of ad hoc insight events varying from one day to one week long in our main office locations – check our global events section for details. We do not offer other ad hoc work experience opportunities.

Can I apply to more than one business area/role?

We'd like you to research the opportunities available so you can make the right decision during the application process. You must make a decision before you start your application as to which business area you feel you will be most suited to.

I have changed my mind – can I change my application to apply for another position?

If you change your mind about the position you’d like to apply to, please call the campus recruitment team. If your application is unsuccessful, you are not able to reapply for another position.

Submissions I applied previously to Barclays – can I reapply?

We accept one application per candidate per year. If you have previously applied to us, you can only reapply once the next recruitment season begins. The season begins on 1 August each year in Asia and you must include details of any previous applications when you reapply.

Why doesn’t the role I want to apply for appear on the application form? Our deadline dates are indicative only. If a role doesn't appear on the application form, we don't have any positions available in this business area. We recruit on a rolling basis, beginning interviews before the deadline date, and if all vacancies are filled we will close the application form.

How long does the application process take and when will I hear back?

The length of the application process will vary depending on when and to which area you have applied. We aim to reply to candidates as soon as possible after the application is submitted but don't have a set turnaround time. Please bear in mind that we receive a very high volume of applications and are not able to respond to applications immediately.

When should I submit my application?

We commence recruiting on 1 August each year. We recruit on a rolling basis, so the earlier you apply, the better. Don’t wait until the deadline.

Eligibility

I have already graduated or have some work experience – can I still apply for the programmes?

Most internships are offered to penultimate-year university students; however, there are certain circumstances where we would assess a graduate student as well. We encourage you to contact your regional recruiter for more information.

I am in my first year at university – can I apply for the summer internship? You need to be in your penultimate year of study to apply for the internship programme.

I am still at secondary or high school – do you offer any work experience? We don't have any schemes or work experience opportunities for secondary or high school-level applicants.

Do you need any specific academic requirements to apply?

We expect applicants to our programmes to have demonstrated strong academic performance at school and at college/university, although we don't have specific grade criteria for applicants.

GMAT: Not all schools require a GMAT for entry and therefore, it is not an essential part of the qualifications for entry. However, our experience has shown that successful graduates in the firm are those whose GMAT score was 680 or higher.

You should, however, check that you are applying to the right vacancy for your academic background: Associates need to have an MBA plus a period of significant work experience; Quantitative Associates need to have a PhD or similar; and Analysts at least a Bachelors degree or equivalent.

Barclays does not visit my college/university – will my application be considered?

Although we may visit certain school /universities, this does not mean that if you don't attend one of these institutions your application won't be considered. We recruit candidates from all universities.

Do I need to speak the local language to apply for a role in that country?

As Barclays' business language is English, it is necessary to speak a high level of English no matter which role and region you are applying to. It is not always necessary to speak the local language of the office you are applying to, although for roles in the Sales and Investment Banking Divisions, native fluency in the local languages is required.

-How much will I be paid?

You’ll receive a very competitive starting salary of £36k plus an initial bonus of £8k. We also offer a competitive and flexible benefits package, including private healthcare, a cash amount in lieu of pension and 25 days’ holiday.Please note, we have local programmes in place in India and Lithuania. -What’s the deadline for applications?

The application deadline for our programmes was 12 noon GMT on 31st December. However, applications are still open for selected programmes. -If my application is successful, when would I start?

Those who are chosen for this year’s Future Leadership Development Programme will start on 2nd September 2013.

-I’m not a recent graduate and have some years’ work experience. Can I still apply?

Yes. Our Future Leaders Development Programme is for Future Leaders – whether you’ve already started on a professional career or you’re just about to.

-What provisions do you make for candidates with a disability?

We judge applicants on their ability and nothing else, and we work hard to help those with disabilities as much as possible. -Do you support study for professional qualifications?

Yes, all of our programmes come with the chance to study for a recognised professional qualification. Please read the individual programme pages to find out more.

-Can I start my online application form and then come back to it later?

Yes – there’s a facility to save your application.

-Can I get a paper copy of the application form?

Yes, although we’d rather you apply online if possible, simply because we receive and process online applications faster. We can send you a paper form in exceptional circumstances and it won’t harm your application. To ask us for a paper or Braille form email barclaysrecruitment@tmpw.co.uk or call 0845 199 1602.

-Do you reimburse any expenses incurred during the recruitment process?

Yes, we reimburse reasonable expenses up to £50, supported by receipts. In exceptional circumstances we might pay higher expenses, but you’ll need authorisation from us if booking any travel over £50. Email barclaysrecruitment@tmpw.co.uk or call us on 0845 199 1602.

-How long do the programmes last?

The Spring and Summer internship programmes take 4 days and 8 weeks respectively, and the FLDP takes two years to complete, although, hopefully, this will only be the start of your leadership journey with us. We want you to become the Future Leaders of our business.

-What career development can I expect?

To help you be as productive as possible, as quickly as possible, expect everything from a thorough induction, a mentor and a buddy through to online and classroom training courses, and support to study for professional qualifications. Please refer to individual programme pages to find out more.

-What happens at the end of the programme?

The FLDP is all about developing your leadership capability. So when you finish, you should be ready to move into a management role and take on real responsibility. With a Development Centre midway through the programme, you will be preparing for the future well in advance.

-How many vacancies are there?

We have over 100 places on our programmes this year.

-What qualifications do I need to apply?

We’re looking for the best to join us on the FLDP, so you’ll need at least a 2:1 and 300 UCAS points from your top three A-Levels (or equivalent).

-What support will I receive during my programme?

Lots. We hire and develop the best people and support personal development in every way we can. As soon as you join, we’ll assign you a buddy and a mentor who can help you find your feet and offer advice throughout the programme. Plus you’ll have the support of a dedicated programme manager who’s there to offer mentorship, guidance and advice. You’ll also learn a great deal from the other Future Leaders you join with – you’ll go through the programme as a cohort and stay in close touch throughout.

-Where will I be based?

As well as making your way around our Global HQ in Canary Wharf, you could spend time somewhere anywhere within our operations across the UK. Beyond that, you could spend a placement pretty much anywhere we have retail operations in Europe and Africa: from Spain, Italy, Portugal, and France to Egypt, Ghana, Zambia, Botswana, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda and South Africa. We also have Technology hubs located in the UK, India and Lithuania.We also hire onto our Technology – Product & Process programme locally in India and Lithuania.

-Can I apply if I require assistance in gaining a Work Permit?

This depends on your programme and varies by business.

-Can existing Barclays employees apply?

The short answer is yes, although we would point out that the Future Leaders Development Programme is best suited to those at an early stage in their career. Application and assessment is the same for internal candidates as for external candidates.

企业银行: How many graduates are Corporate Banking recruiting?

For 2013, Corporate Banking are recruiting approximately 120 graduates and 60 summer interns.

Does is matter if I don’t have a Finance related degree?

We recruit from all degree disciplines, judging each application on its own merit. The focus is more on your behaviours and attitudes rather than your technical knowledge of finance.

Can I defer an offer to any of the programmes?

Applications should only be made for the forthcoming graduate, summer intern or industrial placement intakes. Only in exceptional circumstances do we allow the deferral of offers.

What if I have a Masters or MBA?

Should you possess an MBA or Masters degree you are still eligible to apply for the graduate scheme. Your post graduate qualifications will not qualify you for any additional benefits or responsibilities should you be offered a place on the scheme.

Can I re-apply should I be unsuccessful?

We accept one application per candidate per year. If you have previously applied to us, you can only re-apply once the next recruitment season begins. The new season begins in September 2013 and you must include details of any previous applications when you re-apply.

What if I don’t have a 2.1 degree?

We expect applicants to our programmes to have demonstrated strong academic performance at school and at university, and part of this is attaining a 2.1 degree. If you operate on an alternative grading system, please check with your university for equivalency with a 2.1 degree.

I am disabled. Can you accommodate my needs during the assessment process?

Do I need to have a Barclays account?

No, you do not need to have a Barclays account in order to apply for the Corporate Banking Graduate Scheme.

How can I track the progress of my application?

In order to track the progress of your application, you will need to log back in to the online application system.

When’s the closing date for applications?

The closing date for applications is 31 December 2012. We start filling vacancies immediately, so please make sure you apply as soon as possible.

Can I specify where I want to work when I apply?

We have offices throughout the UK. Where you work will depend partly on which programme you join, but will ultimately be determined by the specific roles available and needs of the business at the time.

We will take in to account any circumstances that might prevent you from being able to move into a particular role or location, and where possible will make any reasonable adjustments needed to find a solution that suits both you and the business.

Can I apply for more than one programme?

You cannot apply for more that one graduate programme within Corporate Banking. Please use this website to explore each stream, so that you can make an informed decision on which programme best matches your strengths. Should you be unsure, or if we identify a better match with an alternative programme, this can be discussed during, or following, your telephone interview.

Can I apply to programmes in other Barclays businesses?

You can apply to Wealth and Investment Management and Personal Banking programmes but you cannot apply to Investment Banking if you apply to one of the Corporate Banking programmes. The same rule also applies to applicants to the Investment Banking and Wealth and Management programmes.

If I am unsuccessful for the graduate programme will I be considered for other roles in the bank?

If you are unsuccessful for the graduate programme, and it is deemed there may be alternative suitable roles for you within the bank, we will put you in touch with the relevant team(s).

Assessment Centre FAQs Can I reclaim travel costs incurred attending the assessment centre?

Yes, costs will be reimbursed up to a maximum of £50. Further guidance will be provided prior to the assessment centre.

What happens if I can’t make the assessment centre?

If you are unable to attend the assessment centre, please get in touch with the Campus Recruitment team campus.recruitment@barclays.com as soon as possible.

If unsuccessful, will I receive feedback on my application?

Because of the large volume of applications we receive, we are unable to provide feedback at the initial stages of the selection process. However, following the assessment centre you will be provided with feedback regardless of whether you are being progressed or not.

If successful, when will I start?

If successful, you will start with us in September 2013 for the UK-based full-time graduate programme. The UK summer internship and industrial placement programmes start in June 2013.

However if you have been offered a place on the India (Pune) based BTCI Technology graduate programme, you will start with us in July 2013.

Can I start earlier than the official graduate programme start date?

Unless there are exceptional circumstances, you won’t be permitted to start earlier than the official graduate programme start date.

I've applied to the wealth and investment management/investment banking division of Barclays before. Can I reapply?

If you've applied to the wealth and investment management or investment banking divisions of Barclays in a previous academic year you may reapply. You must submit a new application and provide details of any previous applications. Please note that you can only apply once in each academic year to either the wealth and investment management, investment banking or corporate banking divisions of  Barclays and we have mechanisms in place to detect multiple and duplicate applications.

If I've applied to the wealth and investment management division of Barclays can I also apply to Barclays Investment Bank or vice versa?

No. You can only make one application per academic year and this must be to either the wealth and investment management or investment banking divisions of Barclays - you're not allowed to apply to both and we have mechanisms in place to detect multiple applications. If we find out during the application process that you've applied to both, only your first application will remain valid.

Could you please send me a brochure about the wealth and investment management division of Barclays?

When will the summer programme/full-time programme start?

The summer programme normally starts in June for 10 weeks. Our full-time graduate programme starts in September 2013.

Will I be paid relocation expenses?

Should you receive an offer of employment from Barclays, details of relocation allowances will be contained in your offer pack.

Does Barclays Wealth support study for external qualifications

Yes. Private Bankers are required to pass the IMC (Investment Management Certificate) and the CFA. Others are considered on a case-by-case basis and according to business needs. The CFA is compulsory at the Private Banker level.

What salary and benefits can I expect in the wealth and investment management division of Barclays?
