8.1 常见问题(FAQ)

Q:I'm concerned about my academic record. How important is it?

A:While your academic achievement is very important, we are also interested in your extra-curricular activities and your enthusiasm to work in the financial services industry and at our company. We want to hire well-rounded people with a passion for our business.

Q:My degree is not business or finance related. Does this matter?

A:We encourage applications from all degree disciplines. Our recruits have diverse academic backgrounds - ranging from business degrees to the arts.

Q:What is your stance on deferred applications?

A:We would not encourage you to apply if you think you will take time off after finishing school. However, each business area will decide on a case-by-case basis.

Q:Another company has issued me an "exploding offer." Can you let me know the status of my application with Citi?

A:"Exploding offers" – which are offers that require candidates to make a quick decision otherwise the offer will be withdrawn, are often used in our industry. At Citi, we try to be flexible if you are finding it difficult to make a decision. If you do receive an "exploding offer" from another company, please let us know and we will consider speeding up your recruitment process.

Q:Does Citi visit Universities/Colleges and Business Schools?

A:Yes, we do. Please visit our online Campus Calendar to find out where you can meet us. Go to the "Meet us" menu in the upper navigation on this page and choose your region from the drop-down menu.

Q:Where can I find details abouts Citi's recruitment events?

A:Please visit our online Campus Calendar. Go to the "Meet us" menu in the upper navigation on this page and choose your region from the drop-down menu.

Q:How do I decide which area of Citi to apply to?

A:The program navigator on our website is designed to make it easy for you to compare your skills, location, qualifications and interests with the opportunities on offer with Citi. Give it a try.

Of course, there are other ways to decide: you can come and meet us at events at your college/university. To find out when we will be at your campus please look at our online Campus Calendar. You may also find it useful to speak to Citi employees who are alumni from your college/university.

Q:Do you have a Summer Internship Program? If so, how can I apply?

A:Yes, we do run very successful summer internship programs at the Undergraduate and Graduate level. These programs run for 10-12 weeks during the summer vacation period. Opportunities are available across Citi. Please visit the different business areas for further details.

Q:On completion of the Summer Internship Program, will I be guaranteed a full-time position?

A:Since Citi does look upon the summer program as the primary source for recruiting full-time employees, those interested in working here full-time are strongly encouraged to apply to the Summer Internship Program. Depending on your performance during the program, and possibly after an assessed presentation at the end of the summer, there may be the opportunity for you to join the appropriate full-time program. There are no guarantees, but traditionally our conversion rates from summer interns to full-time is high.

Q:Where will I be based?

A:View details about available opportunities in each region. Some include:

EMEA - London and across Europe, Middle East and Africa

North America - A vast majority of our hiring needs are based in New York, but there are also opportunities to work in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Palo Alto, and San Francisco.

Q:Must I have relevant work experience to be considered for a position?

A:If you are applying for our full time opportunities, then relevant work experience would certainly be an advantage. For our summer internship program, we do not expect applicants to have relevant work experience.

Q:Do you have an Associate Program, and is there a Summer Associate Program?

A:Yes, we do have Associate programs in most business areas. We also run several Summer Associate Programs. Check the individual business areas for further details. In Consumer Banking, Global Cards and Corporate Functions and some country programs in EMEA and Asia Pacific, a number of the Graduate level programs are called Management Associate Programs. They also offer both Full-time and Summer programs.

A:EMEA - Yes. If you are selected and are an overseas candidate who requires a work permit, we will seek a permit on your behalf and any offer will be subject to this permit being issued.

North America - Depends on the program you are applying for. Please see the individual program descriptions for further details.

Asia-Pacific - Depends on the program you are applying for. Please refer to the individual program descriptions for further details.

Q:Is it possible to transfer across business areas within the Company?

A:In your first couple of years with Citi, we encourage you, and it is common practice, to remain in your original business area. However, if opportunities do arise in a related business area after this time, then it may be possible for you to transfer depending on business needs. We want you to learn and develop as much as you can to give yourself a full career path within Citi.
