Getting Ready for “One Fine Day”
Starting a new day is always exciting but difficult at the same time.
New things and events waiting ahead make a new day exciting, but having to wake up early in the morning is definitely something I don’t look forward to.
Today, as always, I finally leave home for work after going through the hassle of getting ready.
As soon as I hop in the car, I turn up the volume and begin humming along to the music.
This daily routine boosts my energy and creates an exciting mood every morning.
But there it goes again! An empty gas tank does not help!
As I s top by a g a s station, I once again realize how every single minute flies so fast in the morning.
Worried that I could be late, I drive faster.
But when the chilly morning air hits me, I let my worry go. Fall has finally arrived.
TRANS
迎接新的一天既是一件令人兴奋的事，也是一件很难的事。
迎接新的'事情总是令人兴奋，但我不希望早起。
像往常一样经过一番挣扎，做好准备后，我出了门。
刚坐上车就把广播放得很大，跟着它哼哼。
每天早上我就这样补充能量，使自己兴奋起来。
又这样！油箱空得真不是时候！
还得去加油站加油，所以我再次意识到早上的每一分钟都在飞逝。
为了不迟到，我踩足了油门。
但是当早晨的凉风拂过脸庞时，我忘了所有的担忧。终于到了秋天！
EXPRESSION
1. Could you turn the volume up?
能不能把声音调高？
A: Have you heard this music before?
B: No. Could you turn the volume up?
2. I miss the chilly morning air.
真想念早晨清凉的空气呀。
A: The weather is getting colder now.
B: Yeah. Oh, how I’ve missed the chilly morning air.
3. There is very heavy traffic today.
今天堵得厉害。
A: I need to arrive early today.
B: But the traffic seems to be very heavy today.
4. I think I’ll be five minutes late today.
我今天可能要迟到5 分钟。
A: I think I’ll be five minutes late today.
B: Don’t worry. We’ll get there on time.
5. I need some strong coffee this morning.
今天早上我想喝浓咖啡。
A: I need some strong coffee this morning.
B: Me too. Would you like to stop by that coffee place?
REAL TALK
Oh gosh, the light is on. My gas tank is empty.
怎么办，显示灯亮了，没油了。
Really? Do we have time to fill up with gas?
是吗？要加油，来得及吗？
Well, we have no other choice. The car may stop in the middle of the road.
没办法。照这样下去这车可能在中途停止工作。
Oh! I see a gas station over there.
哇！那儿有加油站。
Oh, I see it too! It’s quite close. Do you think we’ll be late for work today?
我也看到了，挺近的。你觉得我们会迟到吗？
Don’t worry; the traffic is not too bad this morning.
不要担心，今天早上车堵得不厉害。
