1.简历的标题
同中文的简历一样，英文简历的标题一般也就是用自己的名字即可，如模板中所处理的这样，将标题字体加大加黑，至于首行中间或者是左上角。此外，最好是给自己取一个英文名字，同时要注意将姓放在名的后面，如果没有英文名字而且中文名字是三个字(如，乔海东)，那简历的标题应该为：Haidong Qiao。
2.个人联系信息的处理
对于个人信息的处理，提倡简洁化，一般只提供出地址、移动电话和邮箱即可，诸如在中文简历中会出现的民族、政治面貌等信息，不必出现，因为大多外企，不会关心这两个问题。
3.版面的对齐和分隔
同一模块的各级标题之间要采用不同的字体和对齐位置，这样层次分明;不同模块、相同级别的标题应该采用相同的字体和对齐位置，这样版面显得整齐。
如模板所示，EDUCATION、ACTIVITIES、SKILLS等同一级标题的字体统一、字体背景纹理相同(都是浅灰色横条)、对齐一致，显得版面整齐、模块分区明确。
4.具体经历的描述
在描述自己的教育背景以及校内外实践经历的时候，英文简历中一般要注意两个问题：第一是“时间左对齐”，中文简历中一般习惯按“时间段”—“学校/单位”—“职位”从左到右的顺序来进行安排，但是在英文简历中，时间段往往安排在最右侧对齐，同时也是按照时间倒叙排版;第二个要注意的问题，在描述自己取得的成绩或者完成的工作之时，动词要用过去式，这是需要特别留心的地方。
5.求职意向不能少
求职意向(JOB OBJECTIVE)，是比不可少的部分，而且一般要安排在简历的第二部分(紧随联系信息之后)而且与教育背景等一样，占一个完整的独立部分，尤其当简历是由外籍HR审阅的时候，这一点显得尤为重要，笔者就曾因为漏写此部分而收到过HR的询问邮件，其实这已经是被视为不细心甚至是不礼貌了。
