不要使用拗口的语句和生僻的字词，更不要有病句，错别字。外文要特别注意不要出现拼写和语法错误，一般招聘人员考察应聘者的外语能力就是从一份履历开始的。同时行文也要注意准确、规范，大多数情况下，作为实用型文体，句式以简明的短句为好，文风要平实、沉稳、严肃，以叙述、说明为主，动辄引经据典、抒情议论是不可取的。有的人写简历喜欢使用许多文学性的修饰语，例如，"大学毕业，我毅然走上工作岗位"，"几年来勇挑重担，为了企业发展大计披星戴月，周末的深夜，常常还能看到办公室明亮的灯光。功夫不负有心人……"，"虽然说有则改之，无则加冕，但领导无中生有的指责日甚一日，令我愤懑不已，心灰意冷，终挂印而去"，结尾还忘不了加上一句"我热切期待着一个大展鸿图、共创辉煌未来的良机!"之类的口号。这样的简历，只能让人一笑置之。
