  1、The Peanuts

  A guy goes to visit his grandma and he brings his friend with him.

  While hes talking to his grandma, his friend starts eating the peanuts on the coffee table, and finishes them off.

  As theyre leaving, his friend says to his grandma, "Thanks for the peanuts."

  She says, "Yeah, since I lost my dentures I can only suck the chocolate off."

  2、A Cat Is Fishing

  A cat goes to a river every day. He wants to go fishing. But he can’t catch any fish.

  One day, he goes to the river as usual. Suddenly a fish comes out. He catches the fish. He is very happy. He forgets to put the fish in the basket. He dances and sings. He shouts, “I have a fish! I have a fish!” All his friends come to see him.

  “Where is your fish? Let us have a look at it. ” his friends say.

  “It’s there, near the bank.” the cat answers. But he can’t find the fish. When he sings and dances, the fish jumps back into the river.

  3、The Two Soldiers And The Robber

  Two Soldiers travelling together were set upon by a Robber. One of them ran away, but the other stood his ground, and laid about him so lustily with his sword that the Robber was fain to fly and leave him in peace. When the coast was clear the timid one ran back, and, flourishing his weapon, cried in a threatening voice, “Where is he? Let me get at him, and I’ll soon let him know whom he’s got to deal with.” But the other replied, “You are a little late, my friend: I only wish you had backed me up just now, even if you had done no more than speak, for I should have been encouraged, believing your words to be true. As it is, calm yourself, and put up your sword: there is no further use for it. You may delude others into thinking you’re as brave as a lion: but I know that, at the first sign of danger, you run away like a hare.”

  4、naughty Monkey

  It’s very hot. An old man is asleep on the chair. A fly comes and sits on the end of the man’s nose. The old man has a naughty monkey. He chases the fly. The fly comes back again and sits on the old man’s nose again. The monkey chases it away again and again. This happens five or six times. The monkey is very angry. He jumps up, runs to the garden and picks up a large stone. When the fly sits on the old man’s nose again, the monkey hits it hard with the stone. He kills the fly and breaks the old man’s nose.

  5、Naughty Brother

  Donny is my little brother. He is a naughty boy.

  On Sunday morning Donny went into the yard and played with a dog. Sometimes a bird would come down to stay on the tops of the dogs house. Then Donny threw a stone at it. Suddenly the little boy began crying. Mother ran to Donny and asked him what was wrong. He said, "Ivebroken sisters plate. She has beaten me." "Why?" "I threw it at a bird, and it went straight to the plate."

  Such was my naughty brother.

  6、Look at the Sky from the Bottom of a Well

  There is a frog. He lives in a well and he never goes out of the well. He thinks the sky is as big as the mouth of the well.

  One day a crow comes to the well. He sees the frog and says, “Frog, let’s have a talk.” Then the frog asks, “Where are you from?” “I fly from the sky,” the crow says. The frog feels surprised and says, “The sky is only as big as the mouth of the well. How do you fly from the sky?”

  The crow says, “The sky is very big. You always stay in the well, so you don’t know the world is big.”

  The frog says, “I don’t believe.” But the crow says, “You can come out and have a look by yourself.”

  So the frog comes out from the well. He is very surprised. How big the world is!

  7、I Made Granny Glad

  A teacher is telling her students the importance of making others glad. “Now, children,” she says“Did you make someone else glad?”

  “Please, teacher,” says a small boy, “I made someone glad yesterday.”

  “Well done. Who was that?” The teacher says.

  “My granny.” The boy says.

  “Good boy. Now tell us how you made your grandmother glad.” The teacher says.

  “I went to see her yesterday, and stayed with her for three hours. Then I said to her, ‘Granny, I’m going home.’ And she said, “well. I’m glad!”

  8、Adding Eyes to a Dragon

  Mr. Li is a good painter. One day he draws a beautiful dragon without eyes.

  Mr. Zhou looks at the picture and says, “The dragon has no eyes. It isn’t a good picture.”

  But Mr. Li smiles and says, “If I add eyes to the dragon, it will fly away.”

  Mr. Zhou shakes head and says, “You are boasting. I don’t believe you.”

  Mr. Li isn’t angry. He holds the paintbrush and adds eyes to the dragon. Woe! The dragon really flies.

  9、The Hippo and I

  A hippo lives in the zoo. I like him very much. I often go to see him. He often thinks of me, too. Today is Sunday. It is fine day. I go to see him again.
