  1、It seems that in the early days of the solar system the Sun was less luminous than it is now,in which case Venus and Earth may have started to evolve along the same lines,but when the Sun became more powerful the whole situation changed. Earth,at 93 million miles,was just out of harm‘s way,but Venus,at 67 million,was not.

  主干分析:it seems that...;Earth was out of harm’s way but Venus was not.

it seems that...是一个表语从句;less...than表比较;in which case...same lines是定语从句,对前面内容进行修饰;when引导时间状语从句;at 93 million miles和at 67 million都是插入语,was not指代was not out of harm‘s way。

  solar system 太阳系;

  luminous a. 发光的,明亮的,清楚的;

  evolve v. 演变,进化;

  2、Lack of accuracy and fairness, too much sensationalism and bias are all components of the problem, but the number one issue is that “people distrust our motives,” said Tom Rosenstiel, founding director of the Project for Excellence in Journalism, who hopes to get more journalists thinking about standards.

  lack of accuracy and fairness, too much sensationalism and bias are components,but the number one issue is that people distrust our motives

of the problem是介词短语作定语,修饰components;founding director修饰Tom Rosenstiel;who引导定语从句,修饰Tom Rosenstiel;thinking about standards是分词作宾语补足语。

  sensationalism n. 耸人听闻,哗众取宠;

  bias n. 偏见 a. 偏斜的 adv. 偏斜地 v. 使存偏见;
