科目
GMAT考试由分析写作、数学和语文三部分组成。分别为:
1.分析性写作评价(Analytical Writing Assessment)
两个独立的写作部分组成,即观点陈述(Analysis of an Issue)和论证辨析(Analysis of an Argument)。考生各有30分钟的时间来完成上述两篇文章。文章必须用英语完成,并用键盘输入电脑。
2.数学部分(Quantitative)
该部分包括37个多项选择题,内容涉及数据充分性(Data Sufficiency)和问题解答(Problem solving)两种类型。
3.语文部分(Verbal)
语文部分包括41个多项选择题,内容涉及阅读理解(Reading Comprehension)、评论性推理(Critical Reasoning)和句子改错(Sentence Correction)三种类型。
分析写作满分6分,后两项合计满分为800分。一般大学入学要求550至600分,入学标准高的学府,更可能要求650分或以上。
题型
最新GMAT考试包括七个部分(Section)试题,每个Section的考试时间为30分钟,其中有阅读理解(Reading Comprehension)、句子改错(Sentence Correction)、问题求解(Problem Solving)、数据填充(Data Sufficiency)以及原因评述(Critical Reasoning)各一个部分。剩下两个部分的题型分布都不一样。这七个Sections试题中有一个是试测性部分,不计入GMAT成绩。但由于分辨不出哪个部分不计分,因此所有部分的试题均要认真回答。
GMAT(1)阅读理解
提供阅读文章三或四篇,共设25个问题,每个问题有四个可供选择的答案。文章内容涉及到人文科学、社会学、物理学和生物学等领域。
(2)句子改错
共有25道题。出题形式是:一般给出一个句子,在句子一部分或全部的下方用线标明,要求考生针对划线的部分,从五个选项中作出最佳选择。请注意:答案(A)往往就是划线部分本身。
(3)问题求解
共有20道问题。试题形式可能是文字叙述形式,要求考生进行计算,也可能要求对图、表进行解释。内容涉及大量的算术、代数和几何的基本定理。
(4)数据填充
共有25个问题,每道题中均含有数学问题和两个与之相关的说明。考生必须作出判断,利用这些信息能否解答试题:(A)仅第一个数据说明可以解题,而第二个不行;(B)仅第二个数据说明可以解题,而第一个不行;(C)两个数据说明放在一起可以解题,但任何单独一个均不行;(D)任何一个数据说明均能解题;(E)两个数据说明放在一起都不能解题,必须增添新数据。
(5)原因评述
共有20道问题。该部分试题有下列几种出题形式:
a)推断与设想(Inference or Assumption)。一般是先给出一段陈述、论证、意见或事实,然后要求从陈述中的概括和推断两个方面作出最佳选择。试题往往会问:在下面的陈述中能得出上述的推断吗?
b)缺陷(Flaws)。要求考生选择的最佳答案或者代表在陈述中出现的错误,或者如果它确实的话,可以淡化其结论。试题常常会问:下述情况如果确实的话,是否影响到上述答案?
c)事实陈述(Statements of Facts)。要求考生选出的答案是对陈述的赞同或概括。试题常常问:如果上述情况准确,是否可以肯定下面所述正确?
