长难句的分析、理解、翻译历来是考研英语中的“老大难”，对此没有完美的解决办法，只能是找主干、剖析句子成分，逐句翻译，然后再调整顺序，整理成通顺的语言。分享过那么多攻略，今天我们不谈技巧，只是单纯地欣赏三个句子，希望2016考研小伙伴们能在赏析之中领略长难句的翻译奥妙所在。
例句一
解析：本句主干是Half described conflict，half(half(conflict;“such as”后的所有内容，都是conflict的同位语;of an impoverished Pacific island作为后置定语修饰residents;over whether to allow foreign oil companies to operate there是后置定语修饰debate;following the discovery of petroleum是时间状语。
译文：这些文章中，大概有一半描写的是集团间的冲突，例如在一个刚刚发现石油的贫穷的太平洋小岛上，居民们针对是否允许国外石油公司进驻开采这一议题而展开辩论。
例句二
例句：Social-media firms are investigating whether they can tap the micro-transactions markets—say, by offering virtual currencies or goods that users can use as barter—though forced partnerships with local telecoms firms threaten the profitability of such schemes.
解析：主干是social-media firms are investigating whether……by offering virtual currencies or goods that users can use as barter为插入语;that users can use as barter为定语从句修饰goods;though forced partnerships with local telecoms firms threaten the profitability of such schemes为状语从句。
例句三
例句：Unhappy parents rarely are provoked to wonder if they should not have had kids, but unhappy childless folks are bothered with the message that children are the single most important thing in the world: obviously their misery must be a direct result of the gaping baby-size holes in their lives.
解析：这是两个并列主句，通过“but”连接。主句一比较简单，是个被动句;主句二是同位语从句，主干是unhappy childless folks are bothered with the message，children are the single most important thing in the world作为从句修饰the message，冒号后引导的部分obviously their misery must be a direct result of the gaping baby-size holes in their lives是第二个从句。
译文：没有人会让不开心的父母去反思自己是否不该养孩子，但是那些不幸福的、没有孩子的人却为类似这样的信息所困扰：孩子是世界上唯一最珍贵的东西，显然，他们的不幸必须通过生儿育女才能得以消除。
